About Us
Welcome to the Comrie Cancer Research and Relief Club!
We are a dedicated charity shop committed to raising funds for cancer research and providing support for those
affected by the disease.
Founded in 1978 by husband-and-wife team, Davie & Jessie Robertson, it originally started out with a few games of
bingo to support cancer research, the bingo nights became so popular, with more and more items being donated to it
that Davie was offered the use of a resident’s paint store down by the bridge in the village where he could sell the items and it grew from there. The charity has had several homes in the village, and it settled into its current home On Dunira Street in 1992 where it has developed into what we now know and love.
We are proud that some of the founders' direct family members remain actively involved in our cause today.
From the very beginning, the charity has been run entirely by volunteers. What started with just a handful of helpers has grown into a team of more than 30 dedicated volunteers. While our volunteers play a vital role in helping the charity succeed, the shop has also become a welcoming and supportive place where people can meet others, stay active, and enjoy being part of the community.
Being entirely volunteer-run helps ensure that every possible penny raised goes directly towards our charitable efforts.
Together, we have donated over £1.6 million to cancer charities.
We accept and sell a variety of donated items, from clothing to small household goods, making it easy for you to contribute to our mission while finding great bargains. Thanks to the incredible support we receive through donations
and sales, the charity has expanded beyond the village shop, and we now also have our two huts up at Cultybraggan camp: Hut 43 for donations, and Hut 61 for Sunday sales.
Our shop is more than just a place to find great value items - it is a hub of community support, compassion, and generosity. We are proud to help sustain and encourage a greener environment.
Join us in our efforts to make a difference in the lives of those impacted by cancer.
